Flights from Egypt to Bishkek, Tashkent, Almaty and Moscow
Transport5 min read

Flying home for the holidays or bringing relatives over? Here is where you can fly direct from Egypt, which connections are easiest and how to save on fares and baggage.
Direct flights, the big picture
As of October 2026 we found no regular direct flights from Cairo to the capitals of Central Asia, either in airline timetables or on major flight search sites. From Cairo there are regular direct flights to Moscow: Aeroflot and EgyptAir operate them, and the flight takes about six hours.
The resorts offer more choice. Aeroflot flies from Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh to Moscow, and in the tourist season charters are added to various cities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Many of them are seasonal, so check everything below on the airline website or with a tour operator before you buy.
Kazakhstan
We found no direct flights from Cairo to Almaty or Astana. In 2025 the airline SCAT launched a direct flight between Shymkent and Cairo, but it later disappeared from the schedule.
Links with the resorts are better. In summer 2026 Air Cairo flew from Sharm el-Sheikh to Almaty and Astana four times a week, and seasonal charters of Kazakh airlines also fly to Sharm and Hurghada. Check the winter schedule with the airlines.
Kyrgyzstan and Osh
There are no regular direct flights from Egypt to Bishkek or Osh. In past winter seasons the Egyptian airline Red Sea Airlines ran charters between Sharm el-Sheikh and Bishkek. Ask tour operators whether they will run in the 2026/27 season.
More often people fly with one connection: via Istanbul, Sharjah, Dubai or Moscow. Direct flights to Osh include, for example, Pegasus from Istanbul, Air Arabia from Sharjah and flynas from Jeddah. You can also fly to Bishkek and change to a domestic flight.
Uzbekistan
There are no direct flights from Cairo to Tashkent in 2026. Uzbekistan Airways has flown from Hurghada to Tashkent since July 2024, and Uzbek and Egyptian airlines fly between Tashkent and Sharm el-Sheikh, some of them seasonally.
Citizens of Uzbekistan who later return to Egypt should know that, according to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo, from 1 November 2026 the visa has to be obtained in advance and tourist trips go through authorised tour operators. Because of this, the schedule of tourist flights may change. Read about the rules for leaving in our article on leaving Egypt.
Tajikistan
There are no regular direct flights from Cairo to Dushanbe. In May 2025 Somon Air launched a weekly direct flight between Dushanbe and Sharm el-Sheikh. Check on the airline website whether it is still running.
Usually people fly to Dushanbe with a connection in Istanbul, Dubai or Moscow.
How to choose a connection
Try to book one ticket for the whole route. Then your bags are usually checked through to the end, and if the first flight is late, the airline will rebook you on the next one. With separate tickets you have to collect your bags, check in again and sometimes go through passport control in the transit country, so find out in advance whether you need a visa there.
Since late February 2026, because of the conflict around Iran, flights via the Persian Gulf countries have at times been cancelled or rerouted. In October the airports of the UAE are open, but flights can take longer than usual, so check your flight status before departure.
- Istanbul. Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet fly both to Egypt and to cities in Central Asia.
- Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Emirates, flydubai, Air Arabia and Etihad connect Egypt with many cities in the region.
- Jeddah. For example, flynas flies from there to Osh.
- Moscow. Many flights to all the capitals of Central Asia.
When fares are lower
- Buy one or two months ahead, and even earlier for the summer holidays, New Year, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
- Compare departures from Cairo, Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Sometimes it pays to travel to a resort and take a direct flight from there.
- Look at nearby dates and different transit cities, the difference can be noticeable.
- Charter tickets are often cheaper, but usually non-refundable and only available in season. Buy them from a tour operator or an agency, not from middlemen in chats.
- Count the full price: baggage, seat selection and the trip to the airport. A cheap fare without baggage can end up costing more.
Baggage and what to check before you fly
- The baggage allowance depends on the fare. Low-cost airlines such as Pegasus, AJet, flydubai and Air Arabia often sell checked bags separately on their cheapest fares, while traditional airlines usually include them.
- If you fly with different airlines, check the allowance on each leg.
- Put power banks and spare batteries in your hand luggage only.
- Books and heavy items are sometimes cheaper to send separately, see our article on parcels from Egypt.
- Before buying a ticket, check when your visa or residence permit expires. Cash in foreign currency worth more than 10,000 dollars must be declared on departure.
How Tullab can help
Flying home? Post an ad in I will take a parcel: people from home often look for someone to carry documents and gifts. Only take items you have checked yourself.
You can find a suitcase for the trip in bags and suitcases, and get to the airport with a driver from transfers and taxis.
